A world without violence is possible.
Firmly believing in the power of data and science to serve the greater good, I have dedicated my career to raising awareness and influencing change on social issues. My academic roots began in the epidemiological public health approach to reducing violence. Today I help communities apply science to solving problems. My social justice projects include environmental violence prevention, promoting pretrial justice, and quantifying racial and gender system disparities.
For nearly 30 years, I co-founded and managed the Atlanta-based public policy research firm Applied Research Services. Much of my research efforts focused on quantitative methods of predicting violent behavior. My career includes leading numerous U.S. Department of Justice studies, publishing academic and practitioner articles, and instructing college courses and professional research seminars.
I am passionate about the movement to end violence! My time is devoted to serving as a member of my local Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) and as a Board Member to Hope Shores Alliance, providing services to survivors of sexual assault, stalking, dating violence, and domestic violence.
